Engine 50, with automatic aid companies from Clarkston, Trenton, Smithfield, Lewiston and the Cache County Fire District responded to a reported working structure fire at an address in Newton.
The fire was burning in a chimney and luckily it had not extended into the attic or living space of the home.
Truck 40 was added to the ticket to assist with suppression operations from above, as ground ladders could not provide a safe access to the steep sloping roof.
Using water and dry chemical extinguishers the fire was extinguished. All units have returned to quarters.
