Vehicle Fire Endangering Structure

Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 6:05 PM:

Engine 50 and Tender 50 were dispatched to a county address just west of Newton for a vehicle fire. While fire units were en-route additional information was received at Dispatch indicating the vehicle was a tractor inside a shed. The call was modified to a Working Structure Fire and additional engines from the surrounding communities were dispatched.

Engine 50 arrived to find the tractor was fully involved with extension to the structure. With this updated information a Tender Task Force was requested as this location is not served by hydrants.

Engine 50's crew was able to control the fire and with conditions improving all units that had not arrived were cancelled. Firefighters from Clarkston had arrived, helping to secure a water supply connection to Tender 50 as well as joining in mop-up. When the work of overhaul and a preliminary investigation were complete all units returned to quarters.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but appears to be accidental.
