Medical Assist

Squad 50 and Ambulance 160 (CCEMS) responded with law enforcement to a medical assist in Newton. The patient was transported to a local hospital.

Fire Alarm

Engine 50 responded to a fire alarm at an address in Newton. The alarm was caused by food cooking on a stove. The alarm was reset and Engine 50 returned to quarters.

Utility Problem

Engine 50 responded to a Newton address for a report of a utility problem. On arrival there was no fire and no lines down but the power was out to the entire town. With no fire or line emergency Engine 50 left the scene before the power company’s arrival. Power was restored by the power company within 30 minutes.

Vehicle Rollover

Engine 50 and Squad 50 of Newton responded with Ambulance 160 (CCEMS) , Squad 71 (Logan) and Squad 130 (Trenton) to a one vehicle rollover on SR 23 between Newton and Cache Junction. The vehicle was blocking both lanes of travel and it was reported that one occupant was not able to exit the vehicle, prompting dispatch to add Squad 130 to the response for extrication.

As Newton EMT’s arrived they could see that the occupant was now out of the vehicle and requested a cancellation for Squad 130 now that extrication was no longer needed.

One patient was evaluated by EMS personnel and was transported by Ambulance 160 to a local hospital with Squad 71’s Paramedics assisting. Squad 50 was released while Engine 50 remained on scene until it was determined that fluid cleanup was not needed.

All fire and EMS units have left the scene and the accident is under investigation by Utah Highway Patrol Troopers.
