Vehicle Fire

Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 4:08 AM:

Engine 50, Tender 50 and Tender 51 responded to a tractor and baler fire in Cache Junction. The fire appeared to have originated in the tractor and was fully involved and was extending to the baler when Tender 51 arrived.

Tender 51 is positioned nearby in Cache Junction at this time, a short distance from the scene. Tender 51’s operator had a line stretched and water on the fire when Engine 50 arrived and joined the attack. Knockdown was achieved within minutes and extensive overhaul began, including an inspection of the baler to remove the remaining hay and ensure the fire extension had been stopped.

The tractor was a total loss and while there is damage to the baler, it was significantly less due to the quick attack by Tender 51, backed up by Engine 50 and Tender 50 who responded from the main station in Newton.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and is under the direction of Cache County Fire with assistance from the State Fire Marshall’s office.
