Grass Fire

June 28, 2013 at 6:27 PM

After receiving a report of a grass fire on the hill east of the boat access to Newton Reservoir, Logan City 911 Dispatch paged units from Newton Fire to respond to the call.

Brush 51, Tender 50 and Tender 52 responded from Newton Fire, with 3A221 responding from Cache County Fire. When Brush 51 arrived in the area and could see the fire was moving up the hill towards drier fuel and steeper terrain, a request for two additional brush units was transmitted. Brush 10 (Clarkston) and Brush 130 (Trenton) were paged to fill the request.

The fire was burning in grass and sagebrush fuels and a direct attack by the brush trucks and personnel with hand tools contained the fire at less than 1 acre. When mop up was complete all units were released from the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
