Utility Pole Fire

Saturday November 19, 2010 – 6:56 AM.

Public Safety Dispatch received a report of a utility pole on fire in the area of Cache Junction, south of Newton, and paged Station 50 to respond.

Brush 50 and Brush51 (Newton) responded because the pole on fire was well off the roadway in the hills west of Cache Junction.  Battalion 3A (Cache County) also responded.

Arriving on scene it was determined that no transformer was involved and the pole on fire was part of the high-tension transmission line that runs from Cutler Reservoir into Cache County.

Fire crews waited until Rocky Mt Power arrived and verified that the power was off to the lines. Using a 1” line from Brush 50 a power company employee accessed the the fire with the bucket of his vehicle to extinguish the flames.

When the fire was out all units from Station 50 and Cache County cleared the scene.
