Fire, Other

Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 7:11 PM:

Receiving a telephone report of a possible fire on the west side of the valley, approximately 4600 North on State Road 23, dispatch transmitted the page for Station 50.

Engine 50, Brush 50 and a CCFD Officer responded to investigate.

After checking the area south of Newton on State Road 23 and northwest of Newton on State Road 142 it was determined that there was no fire. All units returned to quarters.

Single Vehicle Rollover

Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 9:08 PM:

Squad 50, Engine 50, Ambulance 160 and Squad 71 were called to a single vehicle rollover with injuries between Newton and Amalga on State Road 218.

Shortly after the page was transmitted it was determined that the crash was well into Smithfield’s response area. Engine 41 and Squad 40 were added to the ticket, but units from Newton were asked to continue as well.

The occupant of the vehicle was transported to a valley hospital and all fire units returned to quarters. Law enforcement remained on scene for investigation and vehicle removal.

 

Field Fire

Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 10:50 PM:

Units from Newton Fire responded with 3A220 (CCFD) and Battalion 40 (Smithfield) to a report of a fire in a field to the south of State Road 218, between Newton and Amalga.

On arrival there was no sign of active fire, but the complainant was still in the area and provided additional information. After a quick search the area that had been on fire was located and firefighter's patrolled the edge of the burn for hot spots. Finding none, all units cleared the scene.

 

Grass Fire

October 20, 2013 at 10:47 PM:

Brush 50,  Brush 51 and Tender 52 responded to the report of a straw bale and grass burning along State Road 23 in Cache Junction. The County Fire Battalion Chief and a Cache County Sheriff’s Deputy also responded.

The first arriving Fire Department personnel met with a passerby who had stopped and was attempting to extinguish the grass and the bale of straw. With most of the fire extinguished, Tender 52 cancelled and returned to quarters while Brush 50 and Brush 51 continued to assist with mop up.

When the straw bale and roadside grass had been overhauled the fire was declared out. The cause of the fire could not be determined with the information available and after the remnants of the straw bale had been removed from the roadway all units cleared the scene.

 

Medical Assist

Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 9:22 PM:

Squad 50 responded with Ambulance 160 and Squad 71 to a medical assist at an address in Newton.

The patient was transported to a local hospital.
