Squad 50, Ambulance 160 and Squad 71 responded to an address in Newton for a medical assist. One patient was transported to Logan Regional Hospital.

Vehicle Crash

Squad 50 and Engine 50 of Newton responded with Ambulance 160 (CCEMS) to a report of a one vehicle crash south of Cache Junction on SR 23. It was reported that the vehicle had exited the road and had impacted a utility pole.

Squad 50 and Engine 50 arrived in the area of 5011 N State Road 23 and confirmed that a utility pole was down as a result of the crash, and that the driver had exited the vehicle safely. Cache County Sherriff's Deputies and UHP Troopers arrived to investigate the crash and shortly afterwards Ambulance 160 arrived to assist with the evaluation of the driver who was the single occupant of the vehicle.

After a short medical evaluation the driver declined transport and medical personnel were released from the scene. A power company representative arrived to begin the work of restoring service to the 3 or 4 residences that had lost power due to the crash. With the power company handling the utility problem Engine 50 was released and returned to quarters.

Unknown Problem

Squad 50 and Ambulance 160 were dispatched to an address in Newton for an unknown problem. Arriving medical personnel determined there was no medical emergency and all units cleared, no one was transported.

 

CO Investigation

Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 8:00 AM:

After receiving notification by telephone, members of the Newton Fire Department responded to a residence in Newton to investigate a CO detector alarm activation.

Using the fire department’s monitoring equipment to evaluate several areas of the residence it was determined that there was no CO present. Department personnel reset the detector and the alarm system returned to normal operation.

 

Medical Assist

Squad 50 and Ambulance 160 were called to an address in Newton for a medical assist.

The patient was evaluated at the scene by Newton EMT’s and then decided not to be transported by ambulance in favor of driving to the hospital in a private vehicle. Squad 50 cleared and Ambulance 160 was cancelled.
