Grass Fire

Brush 50, Tender 50 and Engine 50 responded to a reported grass fire at an address in Newton.
 
Arriving units found a small fire burning in bales of straw where the flames had extended to a nearby tree. The fire was quickly extinguished and all units returned to quarters.
 
 
 

Single Vehicle Rollover

Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 6:31 AM:

EMS and fire units from several agencies were paged to a single vehicle rollover on SR 23 between Cache Junction and Petersboro near the Benson Marina Road. The vehicle was a tractor and trailer milk hauler that had rolled just off the road.

It was determined that the driver was still in the vehicle but further evaluation of the patient’s condition was not possible due to the damage to the cab. Attempts to free the driver began and additional units were special called to assist in the lengthy extrication process.

The driver died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.

UHP officers remained on scene to investigate.

Water Rescue

Friday, April 18, 2014 at 11:30 PM:

Units from Newton Fire and EMS were called to Newton Reservoir as part of a multi-agency response for a person in the water.

Also responding: CCEMS Ambulance 160 and Batallion 160, Paramedic Squads and Batallion 70 from Logan Fire, as well as members of Cache County Search and Rescue and Sheriff's Office Deputies.

A County Search and Rescue boat with a team of rescuers was launched while deputies and fire personnel with a thermal imaging camera attempted to maintain a location and guide the boat to the patient. 

The patient was removed from the water and transported to the hospital.

Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 1:05 AM:

Having located a small fire in the gravel pit above Newton Dam, a CCSO Deputy requested fire department assistance. Units from Newton Fire and a Fire District officer were paged.

Brush 50 and Engine 50 responded and found what appeared to be a recreational fire that had been lit and left unattended. The fire was well away from any other fuels and was quickly extinguished.

With no further assistance needed, the CCFD officer was cancelled and all units from Newton returned to quarters.

Saturday, January 4, 2013:
 
Firefighters responded to a report of a carbon monoxide detector sounding. No evidence of CO was found inside the home and it was determined to be a false alarm.
