Structure Fire

December 18, 2010 at 6:30 PM:

Fire units from NW Cache County responded to a structure fire in the hills of the Long Divide, approximately 3 miles west of Newton.  Due to the remote location and weather conditions, brush trucks were requested at the time of the initial call.

Brush 50 (Newton), Brush 10 (Clarkston), Brush 130 (Trenton) and administration from Cache County Fire were included on the first alarm.

Brush 50 from Newton arrived in the area and confirmed that the structure was inaccessible to firefighting vehicles.  Fire units from the other stations were cancelled at that time.  Cache County administration continued to the staging area.

Having no means to access the location with a firefighting vehicle and with no threat to other property, the fire was allowed to burn.  With the assistance of the property owner, authorities were transported to the structure by snowmobile for investigation purposes.

One person was injured in the fire.  The injured person was able to leave the scene without medical transport and was taken by family members to the hospital in Logan.
