Working Structure Fire

Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 7:26 AM:

Engine 50, Engine 10, Engine 130, Engine 41, Air 20, Rescue 40 and Battalion 3A were called to a fire in a detached shed at an address in Newton.

Arriving units found light smoke coming from the shed and the property owner spraying water on the fire with a garden hose. Newton Fire personnel joined the attack with a line from Engine 50 and quickly accomplished knockdown.

All automatic aid companies except Rescue 40 were cancelled while enroute. Engine 50 remained on scene approximately 1/2 hour for overhaul.

Chimney Fire

Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 7:13 PM:

Engine 50, with automatic aid companies from Clarkston, Trenton, Smithfield, Lewiston and the Cache County Fire District responded to a reported working structure fire at an address in Newton.

The fire was burning in a chimney and luckily it had not extended into the attic or living space of the home. 

Truck 40 was added to the ticket to assist with suppression operations from above, as ground ladders could not provide a safe access to the steep sloping roof.

Using water and dry chemical extinguishers the fire was extinguished. All units have returned to quarters.

No smoke or flames were visible on arrival. After investigation and minor overhaul it was determined the fire had not extended beyond the point of origin. All units returned to quarters.

Engine 50, Squad 50 and Rescue 40 were paged to a 2 vehicle crash on State Road 142 just west of Newton. 

While enroute it was determined extrication would be needed for the driver of one of the vehicles. Engine 51 was added to the ticket and when on scene units from Station 50 went to work to free the patient. Engine 40 and Squad 130 also responded with their tools to assist with the extensive extrication needed to free the patient.

A medical helicopter landed at the scene and transported the patient to the hospital.
